Las Vegas — This Saturday, Bobby Green is stepping in on short notice to fight Islam Makhachev in the main event for UFC Vegas 49.
Green accepted the fight against Makhachev just six days ago after it was confirmed that Makhachev’s original opponent, Beneil Dariush, was out of the fight due to suffering an ankle injury in training.
Green is currently coming off a unanimous decision win over Nasrat Haqparast at UFC 271, which took place on Feb. 12, just 10 days ago.
On Monday, during an appearance on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, Green discussed why he accepted the fight against Islam Makhachev on less than ideal circumstances.
“I wanna show people – I’m not crazy, I’m f*ckin’ nuts,” Green said. “Okay? I’m f*ckin’ nuts. I’ll show all you pu*sy mother f*ckers, this is how you do this sh*t.
“Let me show you some real G-shit. Get in there and do this shit with the highest [ranked] guy in our f*ckin’ division. I’m gonna walk in there like a gangster and punch that guy right in his f*ckin’ face.
“Okay? I’m gonna keep hittin’ him in the face until he go down, and all he’s gonna do is try to wrestle and that’s cool. He’s gonna wrestle. Cool. Wrestle, wrestle, wrestle. I can wrestle too, that’s fine.
“But at the end of the day, I just want to show my peers or my colleagues or my opponents, this is how the f*ck you do this sh*t. You don’t f*ckin’ sit back here and wait for the perfect opportunity.”
