After the highly anticipated fight between Zabit Magomedsharipov and Yair Rodriguez was cancelled earlier this week, per Dana White, Calvin Kattar has thrown his name in the mix for a potential rematch against the rising featherweight contender via a Tweet, earlier this morning.
“I gave you 10 months to catch your breath after that third round. You ready to pick up where we left off on 8/29? #FiveRounds #NewEnglandCartel,” said Kattar.
Zabit didn’t take long to respond, minutes later he tweeted, “You are a great fighter and great person. But my goal is the UFC belt, not the rematches of unanimous decisions. I’ll give you that 5 round (rematch) as my first title defense. PS: don’t forget about the first 2 rounds, next time it will last all 5,” said Magomedsharipov.

It is true that Zabit has his eyes set on gold following the pull out of Yair Rodriguez. After news broke about the fight being off, Magomedsharipov wasted no time calling out the divisions champion, Alexander Volkanovski, through a series of Twitter and Instagram posts.
I am the champ not the replacement fighter but I hope you find a matchup ASAP then chances are I see you later this year. https://t.co/QCzsEEpi0I
