Ahead of Conor McGregor’s rematch against Dustin Poirier at UFC 257, UFC president Dana White sat down with Brett Okomoto of ESPN, to talk McGregor’s return and what’s to come in 2021.

White told Okomoto that the real McGregor (22-4 MMA, 10-2 UFC) is back. Stating that not only is he the motivated version of himself, but he is also in the right place mentally.

“There is nothing more exciting or more fun than a motivated Conor McGregor,” White said. “When his head is in the right place, and you can tell when he is and you can tell when he isn’t, and you can tell right now, he’s in (the right place).”

“I know when the real Conor’s here, and when the other Conor’s here,” White said. “Believe me when I tell you, the real Conor is here,” adding, “If something happens to Dustin Poirier, he is the Conor McGregor right now that does not give a sh** who we put in that fight on that night. He’s that guy right now. He’s gonna be like, ‘Who’s ready. Who you got. I’m going to the gym. Tell me who’s showing up on Saturday.’ That Conor McGregor is back.”

White explained that McGregor is infatuated with learning everything he can right now about fight night. “He’s hitting me up and asking me questions about the arena, the walk-in, you know all these type of things that he’s interested in knowing about right now,” White said. “He’s all in on this thing.”

The UFC president had a final message for McGregor fans ahead of UFC 257.

“If you are a Conor McGregor fan, and you love everything about Conor McGregor fights, don’t miss this one,” White said. “This is the one.”

McGregor and Poirier (26-6 MMA, 18-5 UFC) are set to meet in the octagon on Saturday, January 23, at the newly built Etihad Stadium in Abu Dhabi. The fight will be sold on the ESPN+ streaming app.
