UFC fans can expect to see former interim lightweight champ, Dustin Poirier, around for at least three more years.

During a recent sit down, Poirier (26-6 MMA, 18-5 UFC), did with Theo Von on his podcast, This Past Weekend w/ Theo Von, he revealed that he just signed a new eight fight deal with the UFC, and that he plans on doing all eight fights.

“I just signed a new eight fight contract with the UFC, and my plan is to fight eight more times,” Poirier said. “I want to finish this contract I’m on, eight fights, and then we’ll see where I’m at. But I’m not looking past that or before that, I’m gonna fight eight more times.”

Poirier, 31, made his UFC debut 10 years ago. Since winning his first fight by decision against Josh Grispi at UFC 125: Resolution, Poirier, has gone on to become a household name in the sport through his own blood, sweat, and tears. Taking on and defeating former champions such as Max Holloway, Justin Gaethje, Eddie Alvarez, Anthony Pettis, and more, Poirier, is deserving of everything he’s achieved since his UFC debut on January 1, 2011.

Poirier’s next fight is a rematch six years in the making against former featherweight, and lightweight champ of the UFC, Conor McGregor, who defeated Poirier by first round knockout in their first fight. The rematch is scheduled to take place at UFC 257 on January 23 at the Etihad Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
