Former UFC heavyweight fighter Cody East was arrested on Sunday in Albuquerque, New Mexico, following a domestic violence incident involving his wife and kids.
According to online arrest records, East, was released from the Bernanlillo County Metropolitan Detention center after posting bond on Tuesday. He is currently facing charges of child abuse, false imprisonment, and battery.
Local New Mexico news outlet, KRQE, was first to report the news regarding the former UFC fighter.
Apparently, East got into an altercation with his wife and is being accused of “refusing to let her and their kids out of a car,” per the report. “The woman told deputies that he made threatening comments and pushed her when she tried to stop him.”
At the time of his arrest on Sunday, East had five outstanding warrants for traffic violations.
East is expected to appear in court on April 26 for a preliminary hearing.
This is not the first time East has been charged with this type of crime. In 2008, he was sentenced to three years in prison for child abuse.
East went 0-2 with the UFC during his short stint back in 2016, suffering knockout losses to both Curtis Blaydes and Walt Harris.
