WBA lightweight, and WBA super featherweight champ, Gervonta “Tank” Davis (24-0, 23 KO’s), joined ESNews on Instagram Live, Tuesday, to talk about a potential fight against WBC interim lightweight champ, Ryan Garcia (21-0, 18 KO’s), following Garcia’s seventh round knockout win over, Luke Campbell, this past weekend.

“I definitely feel like I’m the top (lightweight),” Davis said. “I think I’m definitely the face of the new school. For sure. They gotta go through me.”

ESNews followed that up by asking, Gervonta, what he thought of Garcia’s performance against Campbell, and if he’s ever sparred Garcia in the past.

“I like how he got dropped and came back,” Gervonta said. “You know, for it to be his first time being dropped inside (the ring). I don’t know if he ever been dropped in the gym, but I mean, just him fighting, getting dropped, then coming back, he did good enough from that,” adding, “No, I never sparred him. But I’ve seen the videos of him getting punched out. Definitely seen that.”

Gervonta addressed one concern many fans have about this potential Pay-Per-View match up, which is that the fight may get lost in negotiations like so many other great potential match ups have in the past, due to fighters and their teams not being able to come to terms on who the A-side and B-side are.

“It doesn’t matter,” Davis said. “We know who the A-side is, and it doesn’t matter if I’m the A-side, B-side, or C-side. Let’s make the fight happen.”

Since earning his victory over Campbell, Garcia, has gone on-record stating that he believes he can knock out Davis in the second round. “He’s psyching himself out, I think,” Davis said. “He got to. You know me. Come on man. There’s no way – if I would have caught him with that punch, you, me, and everybody knows what I would have done to him.”
