The highly anticipated heavyweight bout between Jairzinho Rozenstruik and Ciryl Gane has been moved to a new date.
Rozenstruik announced through his Twitter on Friday that the fight against Gane has been moved to UFC Vegas 20 on Feb. 27. He mentioned in the tweet that the bout will be five five-minute rounds.
With UFC Vegas 20 already set to be headlined by Dominick Reyes and Jiri Prochazka in a light heavyweight bout, it’s looking like the card will be co headlined by two five round non-title fights in the main and co main events.
The fight between the two heavyweights was originally scheduled to take place on March 13. The change of dates for the bout has not been confirmed by the UFC at this time.
Both Rozenstruik (11-1 MMA, 5-1 UFC) and Gane (7-0 MMA, 4-0 UFC) are rising heavyweight contenders with a lot of attention on the both of them. They both defeated the same opponent in their last fight in former heavyweight champ, Junior Dos Santos. Of nine combined UFC victories between them, eight have come by way of finish.
Update**
Per a Tweet shared late Friday by MMA reporter Farrah Hannoun, the UFC is looking to move the original main event between Reyes and Prochazka to a further date, and Rozenstruik vs. Gane will now be the new main event for UFC Vegas 20.
Confirmed with multiple sources that Reyes vs. Prochazka is off the Feb. 27 card and Rozenstruik vs. Gane will now headline. Hope is to have Reyes/Prochazka rescheduled for a later date.
