Khamzat Chimaev has continued to make headlines ever since making his return to the UFC this past October at UFC 267, where he defeated Li Jing Liang by first-round submission.

In his latest callout, Chimaev took aim at former interim welterweight champion, Colby ‘Chaos’ Covington.

In a series of Tweets, Chimaev made several bold statements towards Covington, making his intentions clear.

The callout comes days after Covington was quoted in several interviews for his choice words about Chimaev.

During an interview with MMA Fighting, Chaos called Chimaev a “joke” and a “hype job.”

“He needs to beat someone worthy – someone in the top 5, someone in the top of the rankings, not just fight hand-picked people,” Covington said. “What does he have, four UFC fights? The media loves to rush these kids. This is fighting, man. People can get seriously hurt from rushing people like that.”

Prior to his return, Chimaev was out of competition for 13 months after going through a tough battle with COVID-19 that left him with severe lingering effects. Chimaev (10-0) has gone 4-0 with four finishes since debuting in the UFC back in July of 2020.

Covington (16-3) is coming off a unanimous decision loss to UFC welterweight champion, Kamaru Usman, at UFC 268. Chaos is 2-2 in his last four fights with his only losses coming to Usman. Prior to his most recent loss, Covington earned his way back to a title shot by defeating former welterweight champion, Tyron Woodley, via submission due to a rib-injury in the fifth round.
