Now former UFC fighter, and champion, Anthony Pettis (24-10 MMA), spoke with MMA Junkie, Wednesday, to discuss signing his new deal with PFL (Professional Fighters League), and why he chose PFL over other organizations such as Bellator, One FC, or re-signing with the UFC.

“There was a couple reasons behind the PFL deal,” Pettis said. “My little brother at Bellator, (Sergio Pettis), seeing him go over there, I like that he has his own home. I feel like he kind of had an identity through me. Like he was, Anthony Pettis’ little brother, and he was fighting these tough fights and these guys were coming at him hard. Whereas now he’s in Bellator, and he’s one fight away from becoming a world champion. So I’m really happy with where he’s at,” adding, “The PFL deal, and their format is kind of what drew me towards making that signature happen fast. I felt like what they were offering was very fair, and I have four fights on the schedule for 2021, and it’s a season. The format was huge for me, you know.”

Per usual, Pettis, will be looking to get a highlight reel knockout in his PFL debut. “Fight number one is to make ESPN Top 10,” Pettis said. “Be on that Top 10 list, you know,” adding, “I feel like I’m one of the big faces of this company now, and it’s my job to make sure we get seen around the world, and I got the fighting style for it.”
