Phil Hawes is out of his middleweight bout against Sam Alvey this weekend at UFC Vegas 47, due to an injury.
UFC officials confirmed the unfortunate news to MMA Fighting on Tuesday after Alvey made the initial announcement on his Instagram earlier this morning.
As for now, the promotion is still looking for a replacement opponent for Alvey, but there is no guarantee they will be able to find one in time for weigh-ins on Friday.
UFC Vegas 47 will be headlined by Top 10 ranked middleweights Jack Hermansson (6) and Sean Strickland (7) this Saturday at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The entire card will be aired live on ESPN+ with the prelims beginning at 1 p.m. PST and main card beginning at 4 p.m. PST.
