Dallas — One of boxing’s biggest rising superstars, “King” Ryan Garcia (20-0), is set to take on Olympic gold medalist, Luke Campbell (20-3), for the WBC interim lightweight title this Sat., Jan. 2, at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.
During yesterday’s media day conference call, Garcia laid out his ideal next four opponents, starting with WBA lightweight and WBA super featherweight champ, Gervonta Davis (24-0), as long as he gets the job done against Campbell Saturday night.
“My dream, and one of my goals is to beat four fighters in their prime,” said Garcia during a media day conference call. “Deadly fighters. Like fighters that people don’t want to step in the ring with, and one of them is Gervonta Davis, you got Teofimo Lopez (16-0), you got Devin Haney (25-0). All in their prime, and then you have Luke Campbell that say’s he’s in his prime now. So if I can defeat all four of these dudes, and I plan on doing it back to back to back to back, I could set myself up for potentially being one of the greatest. So that’s my dream. My dream is to be one of the greatest fighters of all-time.”
“I’m going for greatness that night,” he added. “I don’t care what Golden Boy says, I don’t care what anybody says, I’m going for greatness. I’m gonna fight Gervonta Davis. If I come out victorious against Luke Campbell, I will go for Gervonta Davis, then after that Teofimo (Lopez), then after that Devin Haney. That’s what I want.”
Garcia has a lot on the line this Saturday against Luke Campbell, who has the edge in experience in big fights over Garcia. However, Garcia will look to be the faster, more youthful fighter in the ring, and he will be holding all the hype going into this fight.
You can watch the fight live on the DAZN streaming app, beginning at 3 p.m. ET/ noon PT.
