Former UFC lightweight champ Frankie Edgar is a massive underdog heading into his bantamweight bout vs. Cory Sandhagen this weekend at UFC Vegas 18

Online Las Vegas sports book, Bovada, currently has Sandhagen set as a four to one favorite against the former champion, while DraftKings online sports book has Sandhagen set as almost a five to one favorite.

Anyone who’s watched Edgar’s career knows that, despite his older age, he shouldn’t be considered this much of an underdog heading into any fight.

During his time with the UFC that’s spanned over 10 years, Edgar has made a career of proving the doubters wrong.

Sandhagen, 28, is coming off a second-round TKO victory over former bantamweight title challenger, Marlon Moraes, at UFC Fight Island 5, last October. With a record of 6-1 since joining the UFC back in 2018, Sandhagen will be looking to break into the bantamweight title conversation with a victory over Edgar.

Edgar, 39, earned a split-decision victory in his last bout against Pedro Munhoz at UFC Vegas 7, last August. Despite being the more tenured fighter going into this matchup, Sandhagen’s striking based style offers a favorable matchup for Edgar, who has used his wrestling based style to defeat many previous rising contenders before Sandhagen.

Odds:

Bovada: Sandhagen -400, Edgar +300

DraftKings: Sandhagen -455, Edgar +330
