The rematch between Rose Namajunas and Jessica Andrade will have to wait.
UFC 249 will now be shorted of its co-main event. According to multiple sources such as Combate and ESPN, Namajunas pulled out of her rematch against Andrade on Wednesday, due to undisclosed reasons.
The two fought back in 2018 at UFC 237, where Namajunas lost her 115-pound strawweight title after getting finished by Andrade in the second round due to a slam, followed up by ground and pound strikes.
It is unclear at this time whether the UFC will look to find a replacement opponent for Andrade.
Namajunas shares the same head coach as Justin Gaethje, who recently signed to fight Tony Ferguson on short-notice to headline the UFC 249 card on April 18.
The situation could be due to circumstances completely unrelated to the recent global shut down amid the coronavirus outbreak. Hopefully Namajunas and her team are okay.
More info to come.
