Ahead of his second opportunity at the UFC light heavyweight title, this weekend at UFC 253, Dominick Reyes (12-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC), spoke with media earlier today. Reyes discussed training camp, and what it was like vetting training partners in preparation for his big fight.

“(Training camp) has been pretty much normal,” Reyes told media earlier today. “The only thing that’s different is vetting training partners. I have to make sure not only if they’re a spy, are they just trying to hurt me, are they trying to make a name off me to be a gym hero, but now the new thing is are they trying to bring a virus into my camp and take me out through a virus and then be like, ‘oh I’m the same weight class, I can step in,’ you know? You don’t know what you’re dealing with or who you’re dealing with, so it’s been a very close, tight camp.”

Reyes will be taking on Jan Blachowicz (26-8 MMA, 9-5 UFC) in the co main event for UFC 253, which can be watched live only on Pay-Per-View, this Sat., Sept. 26. This is a match up between the no. 1 and no. 2 ranked light heavyweight contenders, and should serve as a dream match up for many hardcore MMA fans.

This fight compiled with Adesanya vs. Costa in the main event for the middleweight championship should make for a very exciting night of fights.

With both Adesanya and Costa being undefeated, this will be the first title fight between two undefeated fighters since 2009, where Lyoto Machida took on Rashad Evans for the light heavyweight title at UFC 98.
