After Dustin Poirier broke news last week that the highly anticipated lightweight matchup between himself, and Tony Ferguson will no longer be happening due to Poirier and the UFC not being able to come to terms, Ferguson is now calling for the UFC to “pay the man,” so that they can give the fans a fight they deserve.

The two were eyeing a fight in the co main event for UFC 254: Nurmagomedov vs. Gaethje, Oct. 24, in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, but all negotiations came to a halt when UFC president, Dana White, said last week, Tuesday, that he doesn’t plan on salvaging the fight.

“We’re not even trying to salvage it,” White told media. “We’re getting another fight (for Ferguson).”

Since then, Ferguson Tweeted out to White and the UFC on Sunday, telling them to make the fight happen.

“Pay the man,” Ferguson Tweeted. “Love y’all but let’s give the hardcore and casual fans what they deserve, a good fight sir.”

The tweet was later reposted by Poirier, with the caption, “violence!!! Let’s go Tony!!!”

With much fan outcry for this bout to happen, and both fighters advocating for the fight, hopefully UFC and Poirier can come to terms so that they can indeed give the fans what they deserve.

Poirier and Ferguson are the no. 2 and no. 3 ranked fighters in the lightweight division, this is a matchup that would be sure to deliver.
