The exciting featherweight bout between Hakeem Dawodu (12-1 MMA, 5-1 UFC) and Shane Burgos (13-2 MMA, 6-2 UFC) scheduled to take place on UFC 257: McGregor vs. Poirier’s main card, is now off due to a pre-fight injury suffered by Dawodu.

First reported by MMA Junkie’s, Farah Hannoun, Dawodu suffered a shoulder injury, and as a result he is now out of his fight against Burgos. At this time it is unsure whether or not Burgos will get another opponent for UFC 257. This unfortunate news comes just two weeks out from the date of the fight.

Dawodu has put together a solid record since coming to the UFC back in 2018. After suffering his first pro loss in his UFC debut, he has gone on to win five consecutive fights. Most recently, Dawodu, got a big win over Russian prospect, Zubaira Tukhugov, at UFC 253: Adesanya vs. Costa, last September.

Burgos, 29, has also put together a solid record since joining the UFC. He is coming off a loss to Josh Emmett, in a fight that really had no loser, due to the fact that it was a contender for fight of the year. Although coming off a loss in his most recent fight, Burgos, holds wins over fighters such as Makwan Amirkhani, Cub Swanson, Charles Rosa, and more.
