Welterweight title challenger, Gilbert “Durinho” Burns (19-3 MMA, 12-3 UFC), joined The Schmo Thursday to talk about his upcoming title fight against UFC welterweight champ, Kamaru Usman (17-1 MMA, 12-0 UFC), at UFC 258 in February.

Ahead of the biggest opportunity of his life, Durinho, revealed that he’s feeling the best he’s ever felt both mentally and physically.

“I have improved a lot in my wrestling, my grappling, I put a lot of attention in my grappling, and wrestling too but overall I’m getting better everywhere,” Burns said. “I’m feeling better. I’m training better. I’m feeling stronger, and it’s hard to pick only one thing that I’m getting better at. I’m getting better everywhere, and especially mentally. I’m mentally ready for a war with Kamaru, and I just believe that I have so many weapons that I’m going to keep sharpening until February 13. I believe I will be the first one to beat Kamaru in the UFC, and the first one to finish Kamaru in the UFC.”

Usman and Burns were supposed to fight on two separate occasions, however the fights fell out due to Covid-19, and injuries. The two are now set to compete for the UFC welterweight championship on Sat., Feb. 13, at UFC 258. Location TBA.
