Round one: Both fighters start off a bit timid, feeling each other out. Jimmie Rivera controls the center of the octagon for the majority of the round, eventually taking Stamann down, but Stamann gets up quickly and reverses the position, taking Rivera town against the fence. The two eventually get separated and Rivera continues to control the center of the octagon, and slightly pick apart Stamann with leg kicks. I score it 10-9 for Rivera.
Round two: Stamann gets an immediate takedown to start the round, Rivera gets up quickly and Stamann is just controlling Rivera against the fence. Two minutes and thirty seconds into the round, the fighters eventually separate from the cage. Rivera hits Stamann with a nice elbow off the break, and continues to control the center of the octagon. The two keep it close on the feet to end the round, making it a tough round to score. I score it 10-9 for Stamann.
Round three: Rivera starts the round working the leg kicks. Stamann eventually gets Rivera against the cage, trying to take him down. Stamann doesn’t do much with the position and they eventually separate. The remainder of the round plays out on the feet, and the two keep it very close. I believe Rivera edges out the third round with control and striking. I scored it 10-9 for Rivera.
The referees score it, 30-27, 30-27, and 29-28, for Jimmie Rivera by unanimous decision.
