Khamzat Chimaev is putting in nothing but hard work ahead of his main event bout vs. Leon Edwards on March 13.
In a recent video posted by Front Kick, Chimaev is seen demolishing a heavy bag so bad to the point where the bags insides eventually bust out of the top.
“I smash this bag, brother,” Chimaev said. “I smash people, smash the bag, brother. Everything. I smash everything.”
Wanting to send a direct message to Edwards, Chimaev said, “We’re coming for you soon, brother. Be ready. Be ready. Come to the cage, and let me smash you.”
As the video progresses, Chimaev talks his upcoming fight vs. Edwards while putting in conditioning work on the treadmill, after what appeared to be a grueling training session.
“I want to smash him brother,” Chimaev says to the man filming. “I want to destroy him.”
“I want to take his head, and collect every head like this,” Chimaev said. “I have nine right now, but soon I’ll have 10. Then we’ll continue collecting more.”
Chimaev believes he can get the job done against Edwards better than the divisions current champ Kamaru Usman did when they fought back in 2015, which resulted in Usman defeating Edwards by unanimous decision.
“If Usman won like that, I’ll demolish him,” Chimaev said. “He has no knockout power or anything special at all. I’ll dominate both him and Usman. Inshallah.”
The venue for the March 13 Fight Night card headlined by Edwards (18-3 MMA, 10-2 UFC) and Chimaev (9-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) is still to be announced.
