Hooker, the no. 6 ranked lightweight according to UFC’s official rankings, will be taking on former Bellator lightweight champ, Chandler in what will be his UFC debut after signing with the promotion last September.
Chandler, 34, is looking to fight for the lightweight title right away. If he can get the job done against Hooker on January 23, look for him to call out the winner of the next fight in the main event rematch between Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor.
Hooker, although being more proven against UFC competition than his opponent, will be getting a bit of a rub from the UFC newcomer in this fight. If he can get the victory over Chandler, Hooker can find himself facing the winner of Poirier vs. McGregor next if he can make a bold call out in his post-fight interviews.
UFC 257 takes place this Saturday, January 23, at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. The main card will be aired live on Pay-Per-View following the prelims aired on ESPN and ESPN+.
