Light heavyweight fighter Armen Petrosyan earned himself a UFC contract last night on Dana White’s Contender Series with a huge first-round knockout over an undefeated opponent.

A little over four-minutes into the fight, Petrosyan caught his opponent, Kaloyan Kolev, with a well-timed left headkick that sat him down against the cage and put his lights out. After landing a few ground and pound strikes, the referee pulled him off and the victory was secured.

UFC president Dana White was seen jumping out of his chair over the impressive knockout.

As for a timetable on Petrosyan’s UFC debut, White says he would like to get him another fight as soon as possible.

“Who isn’t excited to see Armen fight again,” said White at the post-fight press conference. “That’s going to be awesome.”

“I’d like to get him (a fight) as soon as we can as long as he’s healthy, and see what this kid can do.”

Petrosyan, 30, has a professional MMA record of 6-1 with all six victories coming by way of KO/TKO, and his one loss coming by first-round TKO.
