Leon “Rocky” Edwards (18-3 MMA, 10-2 UFC) has been on a streak of bad fortune since defeating former lightweight champ, Rafael Dos Anjos, last July 2019.

Currently being on an eight fight win streak in the UFC’s talent stacked welterweight division, and with all of the top four welterweights booked for upcoming fights, the fifth ranked Edwards finds himself in a tough position, looking for the right matchup that would propel him to receiving the next title shot.

Recently, Edwards spoke with Submission Radio where he outlined his ideal matchup for his next fight.

Although he didn’t call anyone out specifically, Edwards made it clear that he’s eyeing a top five matchup or a big name for his next opponent.

“You can see me return in October-November against any of these guys in the top five, or a big name,” Edwards told Submission Radio. “Like I said, I’ve done everything I need to do to deserve a big fight, so give me any of them guys in the top five or a big name, and I’ll fight in October or November.”

Edwards also told Submission Radio that he is interested in a potential matchup against Nick Diaz for Diaz’s return fight, after being away from the sport for nearly five years.

“That fight would be fantastic,” said Edwards. “He’s a big name in the sport, and he’s been around for a long time, so that fight would be fantastic. And for him to come in and beat me, a guy on an eight fight win streak, that would put him in line for a title shot right? So I think it’d be a great fight.”
